First mission to Haiti and signing the agreement with the municipality

From October 10 to 17, the Terre des jeunes and Biothermica delegation had the honor of being welcomed by our colleagues from Terre des jeunes Gonaïves.

The purpose of the trip was the signing of an agreement between Terre des jeunes transnational, Terre des jeunes Gonaïves, Gonaïves City Hall and the Montreal firm Biothermica (represented by Guy Drouin and Jean-Pierre Franzidis) with the objective of building and operation of a modern municipal landfill, with recovery of biogas, sale of carbon credits, and production of electricity for the city of Gonaïves. The whole will be managed by a Haitian NGO, of which TDJ will be a member. The signing went well and the next step is to set up the legal structure of the NGO. Signing of the agreement

We wish a long collaboration with Biothermica, a dynamic firm which has proven itself; and who shares TDJ’s vision, focused on the concrete.

Tuesday, October 11, following a meeting with representatives of Gonaïvian civil society at the offices of the Minustah (UN), we went to the town hall of Gonaïves where we met the mayor and his colleagues, with whom we had a nice discussion on the project.
