Thanks to financial support from the Quebec government’s International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) and the mobilization of 14 volunteers and 20 employees, the third mangrove reforestation campaign in the Gonaïves region has brought the total number of mangrove trees planted to 45,528. These plantings, in the form of single or double hedges, cover a total of 16 kilometers and extend over dozens of hectares, thus protecting the important marine ecosystem of Gonaïves.

Two Haitians on an internship in Canada

26 August 2023
In order to train technicians in technical landfill management (LET) for the Bioenergy Haiti project, Biothermica organized the visit of Ms. Mildrène Saint Louis and Mr. Josué Silvestre, following a series of interviews. For its part, the partner Terre des jeunes was responsible for welcoming the trainees and communication between the Canadian and Haitian teams. The internship, which had to be condensed for visa and budget reasons, took place from May 3 to June 5. During this period, the interns accompanied the Biothermica specialists during operations on various technical landfills in Lachenaie, Mascouche and Quebec. They also read a lot of technical documentation. At the end of the internship, they made a presentation in front of the team. Ms. Saint Louis and Mr. Silvestre were delighted with their training, an unexpected opportunity to train in Canada in a field where specialists are rare in Haiti. We wish them good luck!
