Bioénergie Haïti COVID-19 Policy
April 30, 2020 version
Bioenergy Haiti (BEH) is a non-profit organization from Gonaïves (Haiti) active in the field of community management of residual materials.
To deal with the global COVID-19 crisis, BEH’s priority is the health and safety of its staff. As an essential service provider, BEH will not suspend its activities and undertakes to:
Practice social distancing at the office for administrative staff, limiting by rotation the number of people present at the office. Avoid the exit of personnel assigned to waste collection if protective equipment is not available. Buy protective equipment, soap and disinfectant as a priority, with the aim of having two weeks of supplies on hand. Reallocate funds, in collaboration with its financial partners, towards activities and purchases deemed to be priorities for COVID-19. All expenses must be justified and authorized. BEH undertakes to continue its collaboration with the town hall of Gonaïves, the departmental delegation of Artibonite, the Ministry of public health, ACF (Action against hunger) and the Ministry of the Interior to focus on a common plan around:
Raising public awareness of hygiene and hand washing, social distancing and the importance of managing waste properly. The rapid collection of waste in areas sensitive to health protection for low-income populations in Gonaives. Adapting emergency measures to the Haitian context. More than ever, BEH will be in close contact with its local partners and with its financial and international partners to continuously realign its emergency policies. This plan will be reviewed every Tuesday and updated as necessary.
